An annual volleyball tournament held at Thompson Rivers University is the latest event to fall victim to the ongoing labour dispute between the provincial government and the B.C. Teachers’ Federation.

The WolfPack women’s volleyball team traditionally plays host to a senior girls volleyball tournament at the end of each September. The team was forced to cancel the tournament yesterday, Friday, Sept. 12, as a settlement has yet to be reached between the teachers and the government.

Instead, the WolfPack will hold a training camp on Sept. 26 and 27. The camp will be held at the Tournament Capital Centre and will cost about $55. It will include free admission to the WolfPack’s games against UBC-Okanagan and Capilano University in the evenings.

The WolfPack players and coaches will act as instructors at the camp.

“The idea is to work on skills from 9am to noon every day and then from 1-4pm break off into teams (hopefully by school) so we can get some game play in while players will be with their teammates from school,” said WolfPack women’s volleyball coach Chad Grimm.

Space is limited to the first 60 registrants. Enrol by going online to http://www.eventbrite.ca/e/volleyball-camp-individual-skills-and-team-play-tickets-13051931679.
