The Kamloops Storm ran into a hot goaltender and were topped 3-0 by the Revelstoke Grizzlies on Friday, Sept. 26.

The Grizzlies improved to 4-1-1-0 and remain atop the Doug Birks division. The Storm fell to 3-3-0-0.

The Storm trailed 1-0 after the first frame, with Revelstoke taking the lead on its first and only power play of the period.

With the Storm’s Austin Braid in the penalty box for kneeing, Kyle Baron released a shot from the point that appeared to deflect off the stick of Kamloops’ Addison Bazian and beat goaltender Bailey De Palma high, on the glove side.

Zach Paxman and Zach Morey drew the assists.

After a scoreless second period, Revelstoke got two goals from Tyler Chavez Leech in the third to pull ahead 3-0. One goal again came on the power play, while the other was at regular strength.

The Storm managed to get on the board with a power play goal of their own — Mitch Friesen, assisted by Cameron Trott and Austin Braid — but it was too little, too late.

The Storm had a number of good chances throughout the game, but Grizzlies goaltender Michael Lenko was nearly perfect between the pipes.

Friesen had a strong outing in his return to the Storm after being released by the Kamloops Blazers earlier this month.

De Palma stopped 19 of 22 shots on goal in the loss, while Lenko stopped 31 of 32.

Kamloops is back in action tomorrow (Sept. 27) against the Osoyoos Coyotes. Game time is 7 p.m. at the McArthur Island Sport and Event Centre.
