An argument for capital punishment

Editor:

Justin Bourque, who killed three New Brunswick Mounties earlier this year, was sentenced to 75 years in prison before he is eligible for parole.

At an average annual cost of $151,484 to house a prisoner in maximum security, he will cost Canadian taxpayers $11.36 million during that time.

That’s $11.36 million without taking into account the inflation factor.

Maybe that money should instead go to the surviving family members of the three slain officers, less the five bucks and 30 minutes it would take to put Bourque in the ground now.

Is Prime Minister Stephen Harper listening?
