Peter Milobar easily defended his mayor’s chair in the 2014 Kamloops civic election, garnering 78 per cent of the vote as he cruised to victory.
Milobar received 17,006 votes, with challengers Pierre Filisetti second (2,941 votes), Ben James third (1,040 votes) and Dallas Paisley fourth (786 votes).
Voter turnout was 33.14 per cent (22,672 ballots cast).
In the councillor race, eight candidates were elected: Ken Christian topped the polls with 12,473 votes, followed by Arjun Singh (10,939), Dieter Dudy (10,399), Donovan Cavers (8,957), Denis Walsh (8,549), Marg Spina (8,380), Tina Lange (8,374) and Pat Wallace (7,483).
For the second consecutive election, Andy Philpot finished on the bubble, ninth with 7,188 votes.
Nelly Dever was the lone incumbent to lose her seat, finishing 10th with 6,685 votes.
Former councillor Nancy Bepple, who stepped down in March due to health issues, finished 16th with 4,601 votes.
Another erstwhile councillor, Peter Sharp, finished 13th with 6,240 votes.
The Vision Kamloops slate elected two of five members — Dudy and Walsh.
The other three members were Jenny Green (15th with 4,658 votes), Brad Harrison (17th, 4,145) and Daphane Nelson (19th, 3,606).
Annette Glover, the longtime school board trustee who decided to run for council, finished 14th with 5,184 votes.
• In the board of education race, all four incumbents — Joan Cowden, Kathleen Karpuk, Gerald Watson and Meghan Wade — were elected, along with newcomer Joe Small.
