November Classic
The November Classic Atom Development Tournament was held at McArthur Island Sport and Event Centre on the weekend.
In the top tier, the Kamloops Western Roofing Nailers went 2-0-2 in their pool and advanced to a semifinal, where they lost 4-3 to Cloverdale.
The Kamloops 7 Points Millworks Ice Hawks went 1-0-3 and did not advance out of pool play.
Cloverdale defeated Chilliwack 3-1 to win the championship in the top tier.
In the second tier, the Kamloops Scotiabank Mavericks were winless with an 0-4 record on the weekend.
Kelowna defeated Penticton 3-1 to win the championship in the second tier.
Grizzlies eat
The KGHM Ajax Project Grizzlies topped the Chiefs 7-3 in midget house recreation play.
Scoring for the Grizzlies were Braeden Stamyer, Ryley Acres (2), Kaeden Moore, Tyson Koehl, Parker Klassen and Jeff Swarts.
James Lamb and Austen Martin split time in the crease for the Grizzlies.
Tallying goals for the Chiefs were Josh Campbell, Nathan Demers and Dylan O’Grady.
Kaleb Priestley was between the pipes for the Chiefs.
Justin Credible
Justin MacInnes scored twice and the Kamloops Jr. Blazers beat Prince George 3-1 in Okanagan Mainline Amateur Hockey Association play on Friday.
Also recording points for Kamloops were Jackson Marshall (1G), Tyson Gayfer (1A), Johnny Ludvig (1A) and Lachlan Tomm (1A).
Kendra Woodland was formidable in net for the undefeated Blazers, stopping 38 shots in the victory.
Weekend wins
The Kamloops Timberwolves were twice victorious in peewee recreation play on the weekend, edging the Predators 5-4 at Memorial Arena on Saturday and downing the Spartans 7-5 at McArthur Island Sport and Event Centre on Sunday.
Tallying points on the weekend for the Timberwolves were Tristan Coetzer (4G), Olen Gelineau (3G, 1A), Will Davis-Arnold (3G), Soren Farenholtz (1G, 2A), Lochlan Scholefield (1G, 2A), Maxwell Card (3A), Evan Humphrey (1A), Nick Bradley (1A) and Douglas Pryor (1A).
Tyson Aspeslet backstopped the T-Wolves.
Humphrey, Davis-Arnold and Coetzer earned game MVP honours.
Corbin Guenther (2G, 1A), Connor Dafoe (1G), Austin Burke (1G) and Hunter Coleman (1A) had points for the Predators in support of goaltender Kash Minion.
Reaching the scoresheet for the Spartans were Ethan Dicostanzo (2G, 2A), Ray Shockey (1G), Zachary Chelsea (1G), Elessio Louvrous (1G), Damon Foidart (1A) and Adam Bennee (1A).
Austin Johansen was in net for the Spartans.
Mirror image
Two Kamloops teams, both named the Warriors, met in atom recreation play on the weekend.
Netting points for the victorious Warriors squad were Levi Castigan (5G, 1A), Danny Lewis (1G) and Robert Gyger (1G).
Keilen Hubble was the winning netminder.
Warriors Team 2 had goals from Jack Anderson (2), Sam Benastick, Micah Brownlee and Brayden Gouin.
Nathan Kennelly was in net.
Sniping bronze
The Kamloops Snipers posted a 3-1 record and placed third at a peewee recreation tournament in 100 Mile House.
Recording points on the weekend for the Snipers were Kila Pigeon (8G, 2A), Dakota Reid (3G, 5A), Colton Woitas (2G, 2A), Spencer Forsythe (2G), Stran Smith (1G, 1A), Jacob Taylor (1G, 1A), Zachary Kramer (2A), Stuart Hollander (1A) and Wesley Nielsen (1A).
Zachary Kohorst and Zachary Kramer split time between the pipes.
Exorcising Demons
The Kamloops Royals beat the Kamloops Demons 8-6 in atom recreation play on the weekend at Interior Savings Centre.
Notching goals for the Royals were Sam Zulyniak (3G), Jase Hangofer (3G), Marcus Baron (1G) and Cole Hanghofer (1G).
Tallying goals for the Demons were Maddox Boema (3G), Temeke Gottfriedson (2G) and Colton Meikie (1G).
Kiran Prasad backstopped the Royals and Soren Tuft was in the Demons’ crease.
Tough loss
Pursuit of Excellence of Kelowna edged the Kamloops Players Bench Raiders 6-5 in bantam tier 2 play on Saturday at Memorial Arena.
Tallying points for Kamloops were Breckin Erichuk (1G, 1A), Alek Erichuk (1G, 1A), Chad Petrie (1G), Ben Ward (1G), Tyler Bruin-Slot (1G), Connor Milburn (2A) Kaden Dempsey (1A) and Hunter Beckett (1A).
Ethan Langenegger backstopped the Raiders.
The Kelowna squad scored with 26 seconds remaining in the third period to seal the victory.
Lions roar past Cougars
The North Kamloops Lions won two of three league games against the Prince George Cougars on the weekend, with Kolby Pauwels and Spencer Eschyschyn each picking up a goaltending victory.
The Lions won 5-4 on Friday, Nov. 21, and 6-3 on Saturday. They lost 4-2 on Sunday.
Jacob Faraday (3G, 1A), Andrew Gammel (2G), Bryce McDonald (2G), Cody Kirbyson (1G, 3A), Dante Caillier (1G, 2A), Pat Brady (1G, 2A), Reade Bentz (1G, 2A), Tony Dennis (1G, 1A), Josh Huffman (1G), Ryan Clifford (4A), Jackson Scott (3A), Ryan Dennis (1A), Mason Palaga (1A), Troy Gerard (1A) and Felix Nachtigal (1A) had the points for Kamloops throughout the weekend.
The Lions are next in action on the weekend, hosting a California team for a pair of games at Memorial Arena.
M8s beat Chiefs
The Elks Lodge No. 44 M8s defeated the Surplus Herby’s Chiefs 5-2 in bantam recreation action on the weekend.
Josh Harris picked up the goaltending victory for the M8s. Colin Clark and Nathan Nesci split time in goal for the Chiefs.
Cordell Davidson (2G), Brennen Thur (1G, 1A), Rhys Blundell (1G, 1A), Callum Carrigan (1G), Madison Ouellet (2A) and Luigi Comita (1A) hit the scoresheet for the victors.
Keaton Dell and Peter Buff each scored for the Chiefs, while Isaac Derose added two helpers and Kyle Brayer a single assist.
Avalanche roll through Merritt
The Kamloops Avalanche thumped Merritt Red in novice orange division action on the weekend, winning 13-1.
Kaven Conroy (3G, 1A), Lorenzo Bennett (2G, 1A), Ryan Finney (2G, 1A), Brennan Coetzer (2G), Dominic Malinsky-Triska (1G, 1A), Carson Sutherland (1G), Nathan Willms (1G), Seth Wincott (1G) and Brendan Underhill (1A) tallied for the Tournament Capital.
Luca Woehle picked up the goaltending victory.
Blazers bested
The Kamloops Blazers lost to Kelowna 7-4 in a weekend peewee tier 1 matchup.
On Sunday, the Blazers played to a 2-2 tie against Vernon.
Hitmen take down Titans
The Hitmen toppled the Titans 6-4 on the weekend, with AJ McInnis leading the way with a pair of goals.
The bantam recreation game also saw Hitmen points form Gavin Coxon (1G, 2A), Hudson Irvine (1G), Alex Wright (1G), Skye Conners (1G), Samuel Thacker (1A), Braeden Crow (1A), Garrett Grubisa (1A) and Nick Jittler (1A). Victor Church was the winning goaltender.
Ethan Maarhuis led the Titans with one goal and one assist. Derek Panter (1G), Spencer Shyiak (1G), Lukas Meertens (1G), Tanner Hines (1A), Preston Marcoux (1A), Lance Rogan (1A) and Joshua Dimaulo also factored in. Ethan Herndier stood between the pipes.
Nailers streak ends at 17
The Kamloops Western Roofing Nailers lost in the semifinals of the Kamloops Atom Development Tournament on the weekend, bringing to an end the team’s 17-game undefeated streak.
Kamloops lost the semifinal 4-3 at the hands of the Cloverdale Colts.
The Nailers defeated Kelowna 6-4, tied Abbotsford 3-3 and Chilliwack 4-4, and defeated Fort St. John 4-1 in earlier tournament action.
Manny Recchi had two goals in the semifinal and Reggie Newman had a single. Grady Egeland and Sawyer Mynio tallied the assists.
Silver Icehawks
The Kamloops Icehawks came home with silver on the weekend, losing 7-2 to host Logan Lake in the championship final of the local tournament.
Kamloops played four round-robin games in the atom tournament, going 3-1, and won a semifinal game against Lillooet. Logan Lake was the only team to beat Kamloops in round-robin play.
In the final, Branden Belley and Rylan Desmarais had a goal apiece. Ethan Nolan and Alex Fallowfield each had an assist.
Dayton McManus tended goal for all six games.
