Mystixs fall to Salmon Arm

The Kamloops peewee Mystixs were in tough against Salmon Arm in league action on the weekend, falling 6-3. The Mystixs stayed in the game for the first two periods, but two goals in the third frame helped Salmon Arm pull ahead for good.

Nicole Thomas (1G, 1A), Cassidy Stasiuk (1G), Nola Clarke (1G), Mackenzie Gottfriedson (1A), Skyler Wiltsie (1A), Carsen Moffett (1A) and Amanda Thomas (1A) all found the scoresheet for the Mystixs in the loss.

Lions lose in tournament final

The midget North Kamloops Lions fell to Arizona Hockey Union (AHU) 6-4 in the final of tournament action on the weekend. AHU originally led 4-0, but Kamloops battled back and tied it with a four-goal second period. AHU eventually pulled ahead 5-4 in the second and added an empty-netter with 35 seconds remaining in the game to seal the victory.

Kolten Moore (4G, 2A), Michael Fidanza (3A), Pat Brady (1A), Adam Toor (2G, 3A), Mason Palaga (2A), Darion Nordick (1G, 1A), Dario Piva (1G, 3A), Reade Bentz (1A), JJ Hanemaayer (5A), Brodie Moorman (4G, 2A), Andrew Gammel (2G, 3A), Jared Smith (1A), Jackson Scott (1G, 4A), Kevin Emsland (1G) and Tanner Tobin (1G) were the point-getters for the Lions, who will return home on the weekend to face Kelowna and the Pursuit of Excellence hockey academy.

Josh Shank and Kolby Pauwels split time in goal over the weekend.

Rockets top Ice Hawks

The Rockets took down the Ice Hawks 3-2 in atom recreational action on the weekend.

Ethan Gremaud (1G), Grady McCutcheon (1G, 1A), Ainsley Dempsey (1A) and Stephen Pigeon (1G) picked up the points for the Rockets, in support of netminder Brendan Smith. Evan Kissack (2G), Jax Anderson (1A) and Max Angove (1A) scored for the Ice Hawks, who went with Sam Benastick in goal.

Orange Ice Hawks pick up victory

The Orange Ice Hawks topped the Crushers 6-4 in novice action on the weekend.

Owen Aura had four goals, while Reggie Newman had a goal and three assists. Evan Smith (1G, 1A) also found the scoresheet and Johnny Hicks took the victory between the pipes.

The Crushers had goals from Sawyer Mynio, Cooper MacLeod, Nikolas Dimopoulos and Daniel Ma. Joey Galloway was in goal for the loss.

Lions roar over West Kelowna

The Tier 3 North Kamloops Lions picked up a victory and a draw in weekend action, defeating West Kelowna 7-1 and tying Merritt 3-3 on the road.

Brendan Roche (4G), Justin MacInnes (2G, 1A), Tyson Gayfer (2G, 1A), Keenan Gannon (2A), Sam Fuoco (1A), Nathan Weninger (1G), Seiji Brown (1G, 2A), Trevis John (1A), Elias Wallace (1A), Tyler Bruins-Slot (1A) and Eric Marasco (1A) had points on the weekend, while Ethan Langenegger backstopped the Lions in both games.

Mooseheads push past Coyotes

The bantam recreation Mooseheads edged the Coyotes 5-4 in Sunday hockey action.

Wyatt Brook had a hat trick, while Trevor Banks (1G), Ryan Anderson (1G), Josh Olynyk (1A), Carter Grice (1A), Matthew McGillivary (1A) and Logan Clark (2A) also chipped in for the Mooseheads. Garrick Cassidy picked up the victory between the pipes.

Pierce Huser had a hat trick to go with an assist for the Coyotes, while John Black had a goal and Nicholas Dallaire an assist for the Coyotes. Josh Humphrey was in goal for the Coyotes.

Smith’s eight points lead Vibe to pair of victories

The Kamloops Vibe walked all over the Trinity Western Spartans, winning a pair of games 11-0 and 4-2 on the weekend.

Rochelle Smith (5G, 3A), Melinda Smith (2G, 2A), Emily Edmundson (2G, 2A), Jenny Ormondy (2G, 1A), Melissa Brunn (1G, 2A), Alyssa Reid (1G, 2A), Desiree Blair (1G, 1A), Sarah Kurzac (2A), Kayla Keeping (1A), Elaine Topolnisky (1A), Chelsey Hickey (1A), Bianca Mirabelli (1A), Gaylene Scott (1A) and Taylor Miller (1A) all chipped in with points on the weekend.

Alissa Hibbert picked up the shutout, while Ashley Fisher backstopped the other victory.

Vipers bite Elks

The Vernon Vipers handed the North Kamloops Elks a 2-1 loss in midget Tier 2 action on the weekend.

Statistics for the Elks were unavailable.

Eagles soar over Hawks

The Eagles defeated the Hawks 3-2 on the weekend.

Cordell Davidson had a pair of goals for the Eagles, while Ethan Maahuis had a goal and Karn Mahal had two assists. Brayden Jensen had both goals for the Hawks.

Kieran Outerbridge took the victory in goal over Josh Harris.

In other weekend action, the Petes defeated the Eagles 4-2.

Garrett Miller had two goals for the Petes, while Matthew Richardson had a goal and an assist. Guneet Parlhar also had a goal.

Chris Penner and Dawson Reid scored for the Eagles.

Vipers place fifth

The Vipers picked up a fifth place finish in the Kamloops atom rec home tournament on the weekend.

The Vipers defeated the Blades in a fifth-place playoff game, 6-2.

Alesandro Comita (10G), Brady Pawlachuk (6G), Kiel Schriml (3G), Chase Bodger (3G), Justin Smailes (1G), Landin McGillis (1G) and Jagger DeLaGorgendiere (1G) all found twine for the Vipers throughout the weekend.

Goaltender Keenan Smoch was in goal for all four Viper games.

Jardine’s Blazers bring home silver

Josh Van Unen scored the lone goal in the gold medal final as the Kamloops Jardine’s Blazers peewee Tier 1 squad came home from a tournament in Prince George with silver medals.

Van Unen (2G), Harrison Ewert (2G), Haden Nordick (3G), Cole Howaniec (4G), Connor Milburn (4G, 2A), Kaden Dempsey (2G), Ben Ward (3G), Brandon Gremaud (4G) and Aleks Erichuk (1G) scored for Kamloops throughout the tournament.

Nailers down Kelowna

The Western Roofing Nailers hit Kelowna with a 5-3 victory on Saturday, Jan. 18.

Logan Stankoven and Reagan Milburn had two goals apiece, while Matthew Mariona added a single.

Royals play Rockets even

The Kamloops Royals tied the Kelowna Rockets 4-4 in the final league game of the season for the Royals.

Ava Gladman had a hat trick and Brianne McCaffery added a single. Kamloops enters the playoffs as the league’s second place team.

Avalanche and Lightning play to draw

The Avalanche and the Lightning played to a 6-6 tie in novice action on the weekend.

Jorlie Anderson picked up a hat trick and Max Ritchie (1G, 1A), Quinn Plowe (1G), Nathan Willms (1G) and Lucas Rinaldi (1A) also had points for the Lightning.

Chase Tulk answered for the Avalanche with a hat trick of his own, while Maddox Kinnie added a pair and Jeremy Yates had an assist. Samuel Damini also scored, on a penalty shot.
