Alberta is not being a kind host to the Kamloops Blazers.

The Western Hockey League club is on a long Prairie road trip and has lost the first three games  as its losing streak has reached five.

Kamloops dropped a 5-3 decision to the Calgary Hitmen on Saturday night (Dec. 13). Connor Ingram stopped 35 shots as Calgary outshot Kamloops 39-22.

That loss was preceded by a 6-2 loss in Red Deer on Thursday and a X-X setback in Edmonton on Wednesday.

With the loss in Calgary, the Blazers’ record is now 12-18-3-2 and the club sits last in the 10-team Western Conference and third-last in the 22-team league.

Kamloops has 29 points and is one point behind the Seattle Thunderbirds, who sits in the eight and final playoff spot in the Western Conference. The Thunderbirds had three games in hand.

Kamloops continues its marathon road trip on Sunday with a visit to the Lethbridge Hurricanes, who sit last in the WHL with 17 points (tied with Saskatoon, but with four games in hand).

The Blazers defeated Lethbridge 3-1 when the Hurricanes visited Interior Savings Centre on Oct.10.

Faceoff in Lethbridge is at 3 p.m. and the game can be heard on Radio NL 610 AM.

Following its visit to Lethbridge, Kamloops will be in Cranbrook on Tuesday to play the Kootenay Ice. The club will then travel to Medicine Hat for a Wednesday game that will mark the final contest before the Christmas break.

The Blazers will return to action after Christmas with games in Kelowna on Dec. 27 and in Vancouver on Dec. 30.

Kamloops’s next home game will be on Jan. 2 when Kelowna visits the Tournament Capital for a 7 p.m. tilt.
