KMHA round-up, Dec. 15

Undefeated Lions

The North Kamloops Lions picked up a pair of victories in midget tier 1 action on the weekend, defeating Vernon twice in a home-and-home series.

On Saturday, Dec. 13, Kamloops won 6-3 at Memorial Arena. On Sunday, Dec. 14, Kamloops doubled up on hometown Vernon 4-2.

Bryce McDonald (5G), Ryan Clifford (1G,5A), Troy Gerard (1G,2A), Reade Bentz (1G,1A), Jackson Scott (1G), Stefan Nesci (1G), Cody Kirbyson (3A), Andrew Gammel (2A), Pat Brady (1A), Felix Nachtigal (1A) and Josh Huffman (1A) put up points for the Lions over the weekend.

Spencer Eschyschyn and Kolby Pauwels each picked up a goaltending victory.

Ward leads Raiders

The Kamloops Players Bench Raiders finished first in their pool at the Vernon bantam tier 2 tournament on the weekend, but were eliminated in the first round of the playoffs.

Kamloops defeated Abbotsford 8-6 and Vernon 3-2 in round-robin play, before losing to Nanaimo 4-3.

The Raiders lost their first playoff game 5-1, falling to Cowichan tier 1.

Ben Ward (4G,2A), Cody Jones (2G,3A), Brandon Gremaud (2G,2A), Kaden Dempsey (2G), Breckin Erichuk (1G,1A), Hayden Fidanza (1G,1A), Tyler Bruin-Slot (1G), Reagan Coombes (1G), Hunter Beckett (1G) and Chad Petrie (2A) found the scoresheet for the Raiders throughout the tournament.

Rangers double Lumberjacks

The Rangers scored a 6-3 victory over the Lumberjacks in bantam recreational action on the weekend, thanks, in part, to a pair of goals from both Brent Soulle and Connor Hall.

Alex Adamson (1G), Jayden Grant (1G), Angus McQuillan-Gordon (1A), Jesse Kotani (1A) and Jarret Daoust (1A) also tallied for the Rangers.

Garrick Cassidy backstopped the victory.

Hitmen take out Spartans

The Hitmen defeated the Spartans 5-4 in a tight bantam recreation game on the weekend.

Samuel Thacker (1G,1A), AJ McInnis (1G,1A), Gavin Coxon (1G), Garrett Grubisa (1G), Syke Conners (1G), Riley Feere (1A), Nick Jittler (1A) and Becky Ramgren (1A) all scored for the Hitmen, who had Victor Church in goal.

Bailey English had a hat trick for the Spartans, while Jake Tabor (1G), Jordan Swoboda (2A), Taylor Russell (1A), Adam Harrison (1A), Kyle Pitts (1A) and Quinton Maurer (1A) rounded out the scoring for the Spartans.

Justin Mitchell was between the pipes for the Spartans.

Tamed Lions

The North Kamloops Lions lost a pair of games on the weekend, facing the South Okanagan Junior Coyotes and the Kelowna Rockets.

On Saturday, Dec. 13, South Okanagan won 4-2. On Sunday, Dec. 14, Kelowna won 6-3.

Carter McLelland (2G), Brendan Hunchak (1G), Evan Clark(1G), Jackson Fitzgerald(1G), Bryce Bertuzzi(2A), Tyler Fernie(1A) and Ethan Kaban (1A) scored for the Lions in the weekend’s play.

Riley McLean and Evan Pascoe split time in goal.
