Each week, we feature a web question of the week on our website.

With the new year upon us this week, our current question pertains to resolutions for 2015.

As of this writing, it would seem resolving to improve one’s life sits a distant second to grabbing the clicker and watching TV, if the numbers in our online poll are to be extrapolated onto the greater population.

Our poll question — Which New Year’s resolution will you adopt on Jan. 1? — has four answer choices, with the most popular being “To hell with it, pass me the remote.”

Relaxing on the couch has thus far surpassed exercising more, eating healthier and tending to bucket-list items.

Perhaps the poll numbers will change today and tomorrow. We do know there is plenty of time to change one’s lifestyle, if so desired.

According to various publications featuring an assortment of experts, there are ways to help you stick to your resolutions.

These include making a concrete plan, putting something of value on the line, seeking support, not losing faith when faltering, telling friends and family about your goals, breaking those goals into smaller goals and rewarding yourself when you accomplish one of them.

Jan. 1 is the beginning of the new year and you will see gyms that are more crowded, junk-food aisles in grocery stores a bit emptier and a rush on books and magazines featuring the latest diet fads.

As the month progresses, those gyms will begin to get roomier and those grocery aisles will have less elbow room.

That is the nature of making — and breaking — resolutions.

Whether you aim to get fit, eat healthier, spend less money or spend more time with friends and family, do not even think about the day, month or year.

There can always be a start date. Just do it.

Again and again, if necessary. Just do it.
