The Kamloops Blazers will have a pre-game ceremony to honour world junior hockey champion Joe Hicketts tonight (Jan. 14) at Interior Savings Centre, with Nic Petan and the Portland Winterhawks in town.

Hicketts, 18, was born and raised in Kamloops and played his minor hockey in the city.

He is currently the captain of the Victoria Royals and in his third season in the WHL.

Hicketts will be signing autographs and showing off his gold medal to fans during the first intermission.

Tonight is also Pub Night, with popcorn and select beer selling for $4 and pop for $1.

Fans are encouraged to bring new socks to the game for donation to the Out of the Cold Homeless Shelter.

Eagle Point Golf Resort will be giving away $2,300 worth of golf-pass vouchers and the Shark Club will be giving away an air-hockey table to someone wearing a football jersey.

It is also another Tim Hortons breakfast sandwich giveaway. The Blazers have to score one goal and fans can have their tickets redeemed for a free breakfast sandwich from Tim Hortons before noon tomorrow.
