WILL Stone stand with educators?

Editor:

This is a copy of a letter I sent to Kamloops-South Thompson Liberal MLA Todd Stone regarding Bill 11, part of which would give government a say in what teachers do on professional-development days:

I strongly disagree with Education Minister Peter Fassbender’s announcement and agree with the sentiments of the following post I just read: “The teachers added those five days on voluntarily. They paid for them. You have no business in them. “

Mr. Stone, I want you to stand up and say out loud the parents of B.C. want fully funded schools.

I want you to stand up and say the parents of B.C. want your party to cease undermining public education.

I want you to understand parents see the teachers’ action last year as a very good lesson in standing up to bullies.

When are you going to stand up in the legislature and represent me, my fellow parents and the teachers who deserve your undying respect?

Are all B.C. Liberals really in line with these policies?

Are you victims of groupthink or are you reined in by party discipline and bought and sold a long time ago?

I don’t expect an answer on that.

That’s just for you to think on.
