Matt Lait from Cayley, Alta., rode Wyatt’s Ghost to victory in bareback riding at the 2014 Falkland Stampede, held annually on Victoria Day long weekend.
The 97th annual running of the stampede midway between Vernon and Kamloops gets underway on Saturday and runs to Monday.
On Saturday, renowned horse trainer Doug Mills will host a demo at 11 a.m. and the rodeo will get underway at 1 p.m., with a dance to follow at 9 p.m.
On Sunday, cowboy church begins at 11 a.m., with a parade to follow at 1 p.m., rodeo at 2 p.m. and a dance at 9 p.m.
The heavy horse pull starts at 10 a.m. on Monday and rodeo action gets underway at 1 p.m.
The stampede’s trade expo runs each day from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the skating rink.
