Community briefs two columnThe New Life Mission is reminding Kamloopsians the marginalized still need help even when the mercury is rising.

Regan Wilson, manager at the mission’s outeach centre at 181 West Victoria St., said the agency has started its summer fundraising campaign, Care for Kamloops, to help continue providing food, support and health-care services.

The centre has been running seven days a week for some time now, open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., and then again from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Last year, it served up more than 45,000 meals and saw 1,600 appointments at its full-service dental clinic. The hair salon provided 530 shampoos and cuts.

The Christian group invites everyone to attend the festivities, which begin on June 26 at 9:20 a.m.
