Venom snap three-game skid

The Kamloops Venom took advantage of a struggling Kelowa team on Thursday night, scoring 12 goals en route to busting a three-game losing streak.

The final score in the match was 12-8.

With the victory, Kamloops improves to 5-4-1 in Thompson Okanagan Junior Lacrosse League action, while the Kelowna Raiders are still searching for their first victory with a 0-10-1 record.

Kyle Pauwels put the Venom on the board just 22 seconds into the first period on Thursday and Kamloops led 4-2 by the end of the frame.

The Venom notched another five goals in the second period and three more in the third to take the victory. Kamloops finished the night 1-for-2 on the power play and 5-for-7 on the penalty kill.

It was Pauwels who led the way on the scoresheet, scoring seven of Kamloops’ 12 goals, one shorthanded, and adding two assists. Riley Peterson chipped in with three goals and four assists, while Jerome Thorne had a goal and an assist and Dalen Etter had three helpers.

The Venom will again be in action on Saturday night, in Vernon to face the Vernon Tigers (11-0).

Kamloops will next be at home to the South Okanagan Flames of Penticton on Saturday, June 20.
